im a little excited that my corn is flowering so i wanted to share a picture. I haven’t grown corn before and whilst i can’t say its a success till i am chomping down on a piece its all looking good so far. :face-smile-big:

You will have to excuse my over zealous cucumber though. Its trying to hog the lime light.

    Good evening,
how many corn plants do you have?Corn is usually planted in a block to :face-smile:aid pollination….more pictures,it looks good so far though.

There would be about 8 corn plants in two rows. So a nice little block of them. Are they wind pollinated or bees/birds?

I planted the cucumber and corn togethor at the same time as i was told that the cucumber could grow up the corn. However the cucumber grew faster than the corn and given the size of each cucumber plant there is no way my corn could have supported it. Both plant types are happy however its turning into a small jungle.

My cucumber is flowering profusely but no cuc’s as yet. I was out there the other day with a cotton bud stick doing the job of a bee with my cucs. Hopefully i’ll get something soon. The hardest part is waiting! :face-wink:

Normally you don’t have to pollinate cucumbers
cucumbers are getting bitter if they seed

as long as we talk about the same plant
After the pepper affair I learned my lesson
Australian is not similar with European English
    I mean the first picture

Hmmm well I wonder what the seeds are that I planted? I just had a hunt for the packet but it seems to have disappeared. I will see if I can work it out.

You’re Dutch Roland? My mother is Dutch. Sadly I can’t speak a word of the language but I sure know how to eat the food and lollies especially salmiak :)

    I have corn question!

My husks are now out and my little corn flowers are dropping seeds/stuff left right and centre. Should i help the pollination processes? My concern is that my cucumbers are clambering all over the place and might be blocking the pollination process.
If you think i should, whats the best way do you recommend?

    Thanks in advance :face-smile-big:

    Hi,
I would let nature worry about that, you should have 1-2 cobs on each plant…each one of those little threads is a ttached to a corn kernel, and if pollination is thorough every thread should produce a nice fat kernel. Good luck….dont forget the water.:face-smile:
