Have you looked at vertical gardens?? I know there are some systems out there that are expensive and don’t work well but there’s a new one which is simpler, less expensive & is better for the plants because they don’t grow stuffed in bags or weedmat. It’s perfect for covering a fence, it’s called Wallgarden

If so it is a very difficult weed to get rid of. Hand weeding is useless unless you manage to get the bulbs out intact. And they seed prolifically so if you fail to prevent them from seeding then it is a case of 1 step forward and 10 steps back.
