For a really interesting ornamental plant and at the same time a wonderful culinary addition, try growing ginger. It's really easy.
Buy a nice plump and unshriveled, ginger root from the supermarket and plant it in a light, sandy soil just under the surface in a 6 to 8 inch pot.
Place the pot in a warm and sunny window position and keep damp continually until shoots appear.
Then, water the ginger more frequently and fertilize monthly with some high-phosphorus fertilizer.
Harvest your crop in about eight months. remember to save a piece to replant again and continue the cycle! |
