Hoodia Gordonii is a succulent from from South Africa that has taken the health world by storm. Hoodia Gordonii looks like a cactus although it is really a succulent that originates from the Kalahari Desert. Indigenous Bushmen from the area have long been using Hoodia Gordonii to help stave off hunger during extended trips in the desert. For this reason it has generated a lot of interest with a view to combatting the obesity problem that so many western countries are now seeing.
It works so amazingly well as an hunger suppressant, many pharmaceutical companies are trying to isolate the hunger suppressing molecule known as P57 so they can mass produce the stuff..
There are various species of Hoodia, but it is the Gordonii variation is the only one containing the all-natural hunger suppressant. The plant contains a molecule with similar effects on the nerve cells as does glucose, and it tricks the brain into the feeling of fullness. In South Africa, Hoodia is actually classified as a food and is also thought to provide a sense of well being. From what is reported, there no known side effects either!
