Medicinal Tea - Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm as a medicinal tea is wonderful.

Lemon balm is a hardy and drought resistant perennial plant that can grow so well, that in some places it's considered a pest plant.

Lemon balm is a relative of mint, and the herb even greatly resembles mint and definitely has a minty hint of flavor to it. Like most medicinal tea herbs, it can be used either dried or used fresh. Generaly though dried leaves pack a more intense flavor. If you are growing your lemon balm for use as a medicinal tea, you are probaly advised to use infusions of the dried plant.

The plant grows about 2 feet tall and must be pinched back and pruned often to keep it under control. Doing this will also help keep the plant compact and healthy.
