I am really wanting some good seed to plant this spring in Florida, USA.

I am seeking some seed from a Persimmon Tree. Preferrably the 1 inch fruit...not the larger persimmons. Kind of like a wild persimmon tree.

Does anyone have any seed they want to mail to me?

If you do I really want some seeds.

    Thanks:face-smile:good gardening to ya

Karla, you know that fruit grown from seed are very unreliable. You may or may not
get a fruiter, they could be any size, shape or flavour and can be very prone to diseases.
If you want to grow fruit of any kind stick with known cultivars, be they grafted or cloned,
    and you'll rarely be disappointed.

    Hey Karla,
This is an Australian forum. You are after Diospyros virginiana (american persimmon). I would try closer to home as, aside from mine, I've never seen them in Australia.

Try NAFEX, they'll point you in the right direction.

    Hi Karla,
Just to clarify do you want a small fruited D. kaki (aka japanese persimmon)? I've never seen a kaki with fruit only 1inch wide thats why I assumed you meant virginiana (aka american persimmon). Kaki fruit is normally 2 inch wide at least.

You don't need a pollenator for Kaki they set fruit without pollenation. However, if you want seeded fruit you do need a male.

Virginiana on the other hand do need both male and female present to set fruit. (as an exception to the rule there are a couple of self polenating varieties out).

Have a look at the californian rare fruit growers website for an information sheet on persimmon they'll explain the ins and outs.
