Does anyone have a good reference on companion planting? My 12yr old daughter is growing herbs and vegies in a small space, with limited pots and troughs.

Hi Sian, thanks very much for that - it looks good. Gotta encourage kids to learn about these things, her beans are going great guns, and just bought strawberries which we will put in hanging pots. It remains to be seen though if the possums will get into these.

Good luck with your daughter's beans. Mine died before they got to 8 inches tall, but you may be in a cooler climate than me.Coming at ya from Sunny Kalbarri, WA.

    LOL :face-devil-grin:
Actually, my second daughter, who's about to turn 18, is very short. She's still only about 4'11", and it doesn't look like the poor thing's going to grow much more.Coming at ya from Sunny Kalbarri, WA.

Hi everyone, I am new here.

I've been trying to grow organically (and still am trying). I recently read on gardening australia fact sheets that planting wormwood next to cabbages/broccoli helps deter the cabbage white fly. Has anyone else heard of this and / or used it?

My question is - if you have to rotate crops for successful vege produce, wormwood (once growing) is a perennial and tends to be placed in one spot, I have great wormwood specimens but in my 'Herb garden', if I began to plant them in, near, around my vege garden, I would probably have to plant a hedge around the whole lot so that where ever the cabbage/broccoli ended up they would be protected, or just remove wormwood when I crop rotate and replant constantly.
Any insight on this would be much appreciated along with any alternative white fly detterants, many thanks in advance.

Nah, just me, Ed. Never liked the stuff, except for chicken breast and very crispy bacon.

Terry, there are a few things that will repel white fly and white moth, and are beneficial in other ways:
    Mint,
    Oregano,
    Sage,
    Thyme,
    chamomile,
and Rosemary, are some.Coming at ya from Sunny Kalbarri, WA.
